JEFF NEWBURY AWARD

NEJAT OMARDIN WINS THE JEFF NEWBURY AWARD!

In recognition of the valuable commitment made by former DDY Director of Coaching, Jeff Newbury, to the International Community School (ICS) Soccer Program, the school set up an award in his honor, which will be presented at the end of each school year.  The award recognizes the player who has made the most outstanding contribution to ICS Soccer in their time at the school, both on and off the field.

This year's award was presented to Girls' Captain Nejat Omardin by former ICS player Lagos Kunga at the Fifth Grade Graduation Ceremony.  Head of ICS Soccer, Drew Whitelegg, said, "We wanted to recognize Jeff as he had done so much for ICS kids through the years.  And we wanted to recognize Nejat as being in many ways the soul of ICS soccer."

DDY Soccer and ICS over the years have created a strong partnership with the involvement of ICS players in the DDY Recreational, Academy and Select programs.  The hard work of the ICS staff and the DDY staff together have created opportunities for these young athletes to combine both soccer and school as a means to creating a bright future.  On behalf of DDY Soccer, we would like to congratulate Nejat in receiving the first ever Jeff Newbury Award at the International Community School!
